Heya! How is your Thursday? I’ve actually felt a bit down today, and it’s made me really listless for most of the day. It’s one of those days when I’m thankful for my job because it gives me something to focus on, but at the same time all I wanted to do was go home, change into sweatpants, and cuddle with Misto on the couch.
Luckily it is Adelaide’s first gray and rainy day in a long while, which means that when I did get home, it felt just right to camp out on the couch with my comfies on. Unluckily, I still need to work on my final paper for my Visual Culture class, so while I get to be comfy, I don’t get to be relaxing.
Today’s food wasn’t great (again). I’m still heading straight home from work to study, so haven’t managed to get groceries and am suffering the consequences. I stuck with coffee and soymilk at breakfast time, and then heated up two cobs of corn for lunch. I cut all the kernels off so I wouldn’t be that girl gnawing on a cob in the corner, added a bit of light nuttelex, and made a piece of toast and PB to eat with it.
Random? Yes, but tasty.
When I went into my desk drawer to get my peanut butter out, I looked down and realised I had a problem.
Uh, yeah. That’s FOUR jars of PB. Yikes!
On the way home from work I picked up a vegetarian burrito from my favourite burrito shop, Arriba Grill. It’s dangerous that these guys are on my way, but I love their product and appreciate that they choose local and organic ingredients to make their burritos.
I took the burrito home and settled into the couch for some writing. I think I’ll probably have some sort of other snack for dinner, but at the moment I’m taking this little break to pop in and say hi to the blog world.
A quick look at yesterday’s numbers:
Alright, but not great. Those 1200 calories were made up of random snacks and a Big Mac with no meat, which doesn’t exactly scream ‘highly nutritious food’. At least I had a deficit, I guess.
Ok, I think I’ll leave you here so I can get back to work. I hope your day is going better than mine and I hope I haven’t bummed you out too much with my sad-sack mood today. Tomorrow is a fresh day! I’ll see you then.

I guess we all have our days when we just want to curl up on the couch in our pjs! I always have 2 jars of peanut butter in my cupboard, one chunky and one smooth. I ran out of pb once and it was awful so I’ve learned to keep backup
Haha, at least you learned from your mistake!
Oh gosh, I did do the run away thing on Wednesday … not even a full seven working days back into the year! Balancing a life with working and study can be hard (I’m about to launch back into it this year, I’m simultaneously looking forward to it and not). Although I’m off it a bit at the moment, I have found in the past that online shopping can be a life saver, or a cupboard saver at least, when things get too busy … not just with the major stores for non-perishables but places like Aussie Farmers for fruit and veg. That said, if I had something like that vegie burrito so handy I think I’d be getting them regularly too
Online shopping for food! Good idea. I love a bit of online spending but never even thought about going there for my veggies!
Good luck settling back into work and getting back into the ‘normal’ pattern. Sometimes it can feel shocking!
